Tiling question

When we bought our house the kitchen had stainless steel worktops. We've had the kitchen done out completely and got rid of those. However the windowsill is also stainless steel. We can't remove it, but I want to cover it up. Is it possible to tile over it.

I suspect you might have a problem finding tile adhesive that will stick to stainless steel, it being a shiny surface but I am sure someone will be along to tell you of a suitable product.0

I'd be cladding it with a nice wipe-clean surface

Can you elaborate? Do you mean something like sticky back plastic?
Nooooo!
Quite often sills are overclad in uPVC cladding, i.e. a fascia board, fixed in place and sealed with a quality silicone. This sounds like an obvious solution to your particular dilemma.
It's clean, won't get dirty grout lines and looks 'purposeful' against a uPVC window.

Window boards - either uPVC or wood.
More practical than tiling and gets past the steel problem.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

That sounds like a good idea. We've used those as skirting boards in the kitchen actually.0

Yes. As a cheaper option you could fix wedi board or cheaper jacko board with there washers over the top or bond with sticks like adhesive then tile with basic adhesiveHi, we’ve had to remove your signature.
