Wrong payslips

The whole issue has been going on for a good few months, and reading advice online and in forums isn't getting me anywhere anymore
A while back a new employee in our small office helped us (existing employees) realise that we were supposed to be getting payslips alongside payments, so we raised it to our CEO who is the only person above us, who owns the company. I got three payslips march/february time - all wrong, not matching any payment into my account, based on weeks rather than the monthly wage I get.
I finally (!) got all my payslips, dating from August last year (start date) to now, but they still don't match up to my bank account - they don't even match up to the sum me and my employer agreed on, with the help of a HR advisor, that i should have received that year. This means my p60 is now also wrong.
There was also a period i wasn't receiving minimum wage, which has been reimbursed however not reflected on the payslips. I don't have a clue what has been submitted to HMRC.
I'm hoping to apply for a mortgage soon, and don't want this to get in the way.
Please please please if anyone knows tell me how this can be sorted out!

Sounds like fraud - I'd look for a new job.
HMRC will no doubt be winding up the company shortly if tax isn't being paid.0 -

My employer is trying to sort it out - she's just incompetent (this doesn't take the blame off of her though) - if it is fraud is there any way to make everything right again? It's a pretty good job (although low paying) so i'm willing to stick around. Although i know i'll prob ably have to leave at some point0 -
Call HMRC and see what's being reported to them.0

If it's fraud then HMRC will shut down the company (well unless someone else gets there first, but at present it seems to be around tax)
the owner may well be staying at her majesty's pleasure
Incompetence isn't really an excuse that works0 -
what im really looking for is there anyway to legally correct payslips?0

Mismanagement on the higher or HR department. That should be sort out immediately.0

Your employer must provide you with a payslip as proof of what you have been paid. Some smaller companies contract out their payrolls to accountants to do - this is not unusual and as we are all human, an error may be made anywhere in the process. Your employer being incompetent is no excuse, many accountancy firms will process payrolls on behalf of companies and file all necessary paperwork for a small monthly fee. You are entitled to a payslip, that should match what you have been paid into your bank account - anything else, or payments that don't match up I would suspect fraud.
Under RTI legislation HMRC have to know BEFORE the money hits your bank account a) what you have been paid b) what tax has been deducted and c) how many hours you work, the taxman knows before you do what you are being paid. It is a little harder to correct mistakes but all payrolls legally now have to be filed electronically before you get paid. It is possible to correct an earlier submission but that requires a competent payroll person and possibly liasing with HMRC to explain the mistake. Likely if they have messed up several months they will not want to re run all those payrolls again and resubmit each one.
If you havent been paid minimum wage at any point and that was corrected - again that should be reflected in your payslips. This affects you and I'm afraid mortgage companies / estate agents and anyone who wants to check your earnings to see if you are eligible for anything can ONLY go by what is on your payslips / P60. You may be able to show bank statements but then I'd be wary since most mortgage providers probably wont like the fact your employment may not be above board so to speak.
Find out who is responsible for processing the payroll and bank payments and speak to them directly. If payments to your bank do not match payslips then ask why but remember those who ask questions about dodgy practices are very quickly gotten shut of.0 -
A letter, on headed paper, confiming what your net and gross salary have ben for the finacial year 2015-2016 may be sifficuent for the mortgage application. It might be worth writing (keep a copy) to your employer asking for this.
In the same letter I would suggest that you say something such as:
Following on from our recent ddiscussions I have recieved the wage slips and P60 but unfortunately these are not correct.
The total amount I have actullay received is (list by month). Based on our discussions withI believe that this means my gross was x and my net y, including £xxx paid on [date] in relation to underpayment of NMW for the period [date] to [date].
Can you pelase
i) confirm to me in writing that these figures are accurate
ii) Provide a separate letter on headed paper showing my gross and net pay, and the *actual* amounts of Tax and NI paid, for the year April 2015 to 2016
iii) provide me with corrected wafe slips and P60 asap, and let me know withing 7 days of this letter when those documents will be available.
iv) confirm that, moving formawd, you will ensure that I receive a wage slip each month with accurate details of my pay and deductions.
I would suggest that you post the letter and get proof of postage.
You may also want to contact HMRC to check that your tax and NI have been paid correctly, as this could affect things suich as entitlement to bbenefits in future. All posts are my personal opinion, not formal advice Always get proper, professional advice (particularly about anything legal!)0
