Help for mum

My mum took out a student loan in 1997/1998 she has never made any payment because she never met the threshold and still does not. She turns 60 in august this year and wants to know if the loan can be written off, its now 6k.
She has had no deferment pack as yet this year and is worried about getting into arrears. Erudio told her they will not write off any debt with arrears. She wants to pay the instalments for 4 months so may to aug so they can write off the debt come aug. Erudio have told her there are delays in the forms arriving this year.
She does not want them to ruin her credit record as shes helping me out, bless her. What are her options?
Thx

She may be able to do the deferment online.

If she is unable to do this, then she should make a formal complaint in writing to Erudio stating that any period of arrears arrears that may result from the delays in her getting the form will result in her taking the matter forward as a complaint to the FOS if required.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

dont pay erudio a penny, you will have time to defer if you are entitled to. any payments she might make them will help you even more i am sure if you were to get them. dont be bullied into paying. if you pay, you only justify erudio's nasty approach!
and definately make an official complaint for not sending out the DAF, it wont affect her in any way!0 -
I don't know where you will find out, but, I do believe the loans can be written off after 25 years so long as the account has never been in arrears. I am in a similar position.Restartinglife wrote: »My mum took out a student loan in 1997/1998 she has never made any payment because she never met the threshold and still does not.
