Finding a New Home Seems Impossible

Now that your son is three, and eligible for free nursery hours, is your partner able to find some work?0

- the property you want
- the location you want
- the price you want
Pick 2....
Basically, any property purchase is likely to involve some sort of compromise, but your housebuying history (from what you've posted here) suggests you haven't been able to compromise as much as is necessary to find a place.
I therefore suggest you manage your expectations as I'm guessing the EAs have written you off as being too 'idealistic' - you need to establish your credibility as a proceedable buyer so that when a new instruction comes in, the EA calls you before uploading the details to the website...
Good luck!0 -
Seeing a property on a website is not the way to do this. You have to get in touch with the estate agents and ask for them to set up an alert to you. You should get the newest properties coming onto the market in an email to you as soon as they are available. Then you go and look at all of them. Do not try to judge what a property is like from the photographs on a website and don't guess that something won't suit you by the area it is in.0

I'm registered to all estate agents in my area, about 9 of them. And have recently made sure all my information is up to date. They still rarely contact me though.
I also use Zoopla and Rightmove as well as the Help to Buy South website. I agree though, you cannot judge a property on photos alone as they look very different in person.0 -
Now the second home stamp duty is in force it's likely you'll find more choice appearing OP.

Have you actually visited all 9 of the estate agents or have you only been in contact by email? They will only contact you when they have a new property but you need to make sure that you get contacted about all properties coming onto the market in the area, size and price you are looking for. Then you have to make sure that the estate agents know that you continue to be interested.0 -
You don't want to hear this, but £300 a month (less than 4k a year) is way too low to ever hope to amass a deposit in a reasonable timescale. You need to be doubling that. Probably more.
That's all I could save at the time but I can comfortably save £600 a month now plus any extra hours I work in my spare time. I saved £1000 this month.0 -

Yeah I've been into the branches and have also called to update my details. I frequently have viewings with about 3/4 and some call to tell me they haven't found anything yet.0 -

She currently works part-time but all her wages go on child care. We haven't got hours from the government yet but hope to by the end of April. My partner will be looking to work 3-4 days once this is sorted. So maybe she will be able to go on the mortgage too, it's possible.0 -
How many properties have you viewed so far?0
