One off shares purchase

I'd like to buy some shares in a local company as a birthday present for my better half. Problem is I haven't a clue where to start!
As it's a one off purchase I don't want to open a share dealing account, I am only look at around £100 worth of shares, I don't want to end up having to pay an ongoing admin fee and I've left it rather late and need to make the purchase in the next couple of days (don't want much do I??)
Please can anyone help? TIA

Sounds like a terrible idea unless it comes with a lot of benefits, eg free entrance / beer/ whatever is applicable.
What is your reasoning behind buying shares as opposed to something to do with this company, example why buy shares in Legoland when you could buy an annual membership, or in BA when you could buy flights somewhere? Unless this is a prospective Apple or similar most likely you are spaffing your money away and wont even get a fancy share certificate.
What is the company? Can you even buy shares in them??0 -
Everything AnotherJoe says, but if you still want to buy the shares, and they're listed on an exchange X-O.co.uk charges £5.95 per trade, and no opening, closing or inactivity fees.Eco Miser

Morning
Thank you all for the info, I know its a very poor investment but its something he has always wanted! Its Anglesey Mining (its a Welsh thing! lol)
Thanks again0 -
i agree with all the info above including X-O.co.uk, not all share dealing is about the returns, if anyone was looking for ROI then it would be difficult to get it on a £100 investment as dealing costs plus the spread would in most cases make it very unlikely.
hope your better half appreciates the thought/gift.0
