Lightweight text editor inbetween Notepad and Word

Looking for a text editor that has bold, underline etc formatting. Is lightweight and quick. Also underlines http links etc
Don't want any numbers down the side or coding capabilities such as (Notepad++, Sublime or Atom etc), just a nice lightweight editor that does more than Notepad does, but not the bulk of MS Word.
Has anyone used or got anything like this?

Does Windows still have Wordpad?

Just found this FAQ on accessing Wordpad in Windows 10:

Write! https://wri.tt seems to get good write ups online (groan). As above though, try Wordpad first.
Also how about Word Online? It is the main features of Word but not the really in depth stuff which next to nobody uses anyway.0 -
Its probably best to search for Word Processor rather than Text Editor which is something slightly different.
As above its probably best to use Wordpad.0 -

Wordpad is the obvious choice since it's built in to Windows.Proud member of the wokerati, though I don't eat tofu.Home is where my books are.Solar PV 5.2kWp system, SE facing, >1% shading, installed March 2019.Mortgage free July 20230 -
I think there's a gap in the market for what you're seeking. Most text editors are aimed at programming use, some are typesetting frontends.
I've always found Wordpad disappointing since it's a very poor word processor (e.g. no page numbering) yet is no use for programming either.0 -
You can turn the line numbers off, along with other stuff, in Notepad++
It is very configurable and a great program when you get it set up as you want it.One by one the penguins are slowly stealing my sanity.0 -
I use Abiword because I don't have MS Office but IDK if it's suitable for you.
AbiWord supports both basic word processing features such as lists, indents and character formats, and more sophisticated features including tables, styles, page headers and footers, footnotes, templates, multiple views, page columns, spell checking, and grammar checking.[7]0
