Hi all
Just did a bit of searching and found some old posts, but does anyone one if they still do it?
I see Homebase and B and Q are competing on 2.5l Dilux with Homebase being £10 per tin compared to B and Q selling 2 tins on offer for £22
Thanks

If you find any product even 1p cheaper anywhere else...we’ll refund the difference and give you an extra 10% off the lower price.
We’re so confident our prices in store are cheaper than our competitors, that if you buy a product from us and find the same product (or the equivalent in the case of B&Q Brand) available locally (within a 10 mile radius) for less - even if it’s a sale or special offer price - we’ll not just match that price but we’ll beat the lower price by a further 10% for your trouble.
All we ask is that the lower price is generally available to any potential customer on the day that you call back, within 14 days of purchase, with a proof of purchase. The price should be confirmed by internet, advertising, quotation or verbally from the Competitor. The product must be available to the general public. We do not Price Promise against: Retail, Wholesale or Warehouse Clubs requiring membership, Internet, mail order companies or TradePoint and companies within the Kingfisher Group e.g. Screwfix. Diamond Card and Staff Discount Card holders (including Group discount) can have a Price Promise or use their 20% Discount Card, not both. Tradepoint does not operate a price match policy with our competitors. (Tradepoint prices are lower or level with B&Q.)

They honoured it! It took a lot of convincing, a lot of checking home base website, and a few calls to the duty manager....0

You should not have to convince them and jump through hoops.
I do not like B&Q, you get much better customer services at Homebase.
Their Diamond card is a waste of time as there are so many exclusions and you never know until you get to the checkout half the time.
My OH emailed them and they replied in a different name, got the impression customer satisfaction is of no interest to them.0 -
I shop at B&Q because it's a 5 minute walk away
.
Though it looks like a lot of the staff are young generic shelf stackers and don't know much about DIY! Don't know if it's any better anywhere else really.
I find Homebase more expensive, if I'm in town I'll head straight to Wilko where things are generally cheaper.0 -
I was after a Black & Decker Mouse Sander, they retail for £25 (Was £34.98) and checking Homebase, they have it for £17.43 - normal price, no price cuts etc. Now the issue was Homebase don't have any in stock and you cannot order online for delivery etc. I thought I had checked the small print carefully for B&Q Price promise but alas this was not to be.
The first issue was B&Q had 19 in stock but could not locate the item, one person told me they don't even sell Black & Decker which made me laugh. Once I had found the item (took 3 members of staff) they then refused to match the price as the store in question (Homebase) had none in stock.
I was confused why they would struggle to go out of the way to not get a sale, we are talking £7.50 difference. If the item was in stock - why would I not just drive to the store in question and buy it there rather than price match? I can now understand why stores start to close - such as BHS for example.0 -
Do B&Q price match Toolstation?0

I am now very careful when it comes to buying paint. I've always tended to buy from the big DIY stores naturally thinking that with their buying power they would be cheaper than anyone else, but not so!
I recently bought a 750 ml tin of Dulux quick dry water based gloss (good stuff btw) from Wickes for £15.99. A few days later, needing a new tin and heading to Wickes I happened to stop in at 'The Range' on the way and thought I'd check their paint out and imagine my surprise when the same stuff was £9.99. I bought two tins, took one of them to Wickes and got my £15.99 back :-)
When I checked some prices online The Range and Argos were both cheapest at £9.99, Wickes £15.99, Homebase £15.00 and B&Q £13.980 -
Do B&Q price match Toolstation?
I imagine you will get a lot of grief but toolstation is open to the public and not part of the Kingfisher group. They stock almost all their products for purchase today.
Toolstation probably don't stock much stuff that is identical to B&Q but if you find something instock they will have to price match it.Changing the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.0 -
They have no excuse not to pricematch toolstation.

I figured that they should but I'd be interested to know what's happened when people have tried.0
