Thank you for your reply.
We have already transfered my NCB to my husband and have his name on our insurance certificate as the main driver as you kindly suggest. This wasnt a problem with Dial Direct as they suggested it.
My husband has conferred with several of his new collegues about there insurance but none of them have had the same problem, with similar use as ours. Do you think its possible that we were just unlucky and didnt have an advisor who understood what we were asking...? Thank you so much for reply.
We are in exactly same situation as you - I don't work & husband has to use the car for his job. We are insured with direct line & have had both myself & husband as main driver so both keep NCB. We have had no problems insuring for business use. Perhaps the advisor you spoke to has misunderstood0 -
cant understand why you would see me being difficult , dishonest etc..
I don't recall saying (or implying) you were being difficult or dishonest and I would advise you to be careful about the accusations you are throwing around (as it's all recorded).
I have simply said that it would be a good idea to investigate these things before taking the job. That suggestion is as much for people reading as yourself. If there is a genuine reason why you couldn't do that then that's understandable but in general it would be better to make the company wait for a decision than jump into the wrong job.
To get the insurance you want it's simply a case of asking to add business cover onto the policy.
As others have said I would check they haven't misunderstood because it should be quite straightforward. If one person has misunderstood it's simply a case of calling back and you are likely to get someone else.
Hope you get it sorted :-)0 -

Lisyloo, thats exactly what you did do
"I am pretty certain that most insurers would NOT have a problem with you paying for insurance that you would not be using. Seems like your are being very difficult about it."0 -
I'm glad that you pointed that out to lissyloo, Alfrescodave I've been following this discussion with interest like philsu I am also in a similar situation...
I think that lissyloo ought to be careful in using 'threatening' tones about other people being careful when she is clearly in the wrong herself - not to mention having consistently misunderstood what lavendergirl was saying in spite of her clearly explaining it each time!!!
I get tired of people turning these forums into an opp to be overly critical and judgmental when people ask for help. If you havn't got anything helpful to say say nothing at all.
Keep your chin up lavendergirl and good luck in sorting out those insurance bods....0 -
Seems like your are being very difficult about it
I am not being judgemental.
This is purely a typing error (up to you if you believe me or not after an apology).
What's it's meant to says is that your INSURERS are being difficult.
I don't think you are being difficult at all.
They are being difficult by not simply allowing you to have business cover.
The fact that you cannot use it is in their favour (as you would be paying and not using it). It is ridiculous for them to refuse and I think they are being very difficult.
and YES, I should be more careful !!
but please accept this as a typing error and not me being judgmental.
I don't come on here to spend my time to wind people up.
I try to use the skills that I have to help people for free.
I just sometimes make mistakes and I'm sorry as it's totally my fault on this occassion.
Please don't let it put you off as there are many benefits to be gained from these forums and I genuinely do think I make a contribution on the whole.
Thanks all for the way you have been nice about pointing out my mistake as you would be entitled to say much worse.
I'm sometimes in a bit of a rush when I'm working but I will definitely take more care in future.
