Kettering- Area recommendation

Looking at a rental place in Kettering and going to few some round the St. Mary road/ Windmill Ave area. Is this area ok? seems close to town and not too far from the train station. Rental prices seem reasonable at about £700 pm for a 3 bed. Last time I was in Kettering was a school trip to wickstead park, this area seems not too far from there.

I used to live in St Mary's and my friend still does. One half (the town end which we used to call the 'posh end') is all privately owned detached properties and the other half are all local authority or ex local authority properties. The area was a good location as close to schools (Windmill Ave) and shops and GP surgery (Linden Avenue) all walking distance. Town was a bit of a walk and depending on which end you lived in (the privately owned half being closer to town and the train station) - also uphill!. The train station is close-ish but not really if you're walking it! It was always quite a desirable area to live in with large front and rear gardens (better privacy than an on the street terrace round the corner). Properties had good sized rooms compared to today's standards. Wicksteed Park probably 45 min walk. For convenience and facilities really not bad but I guess it all depends on who you are living next door as it's probably not as quiet as it used to be. It's a wide main road so you're not too overlooked by people on the opposite side of the road which is nice. My friend still lives there and would never move.Looking at a rental place in Kettering and going to few some round the St. Mary road/ Windmill Ave area. Kettering is generally all OK - even the worst streets are not as bad as in some cities. I have friends in the area of Windmill Ave/St Marys Rd - certainly would be happy to choose it for myself.0

Thanks for the info, that's really helpful. I'm looking the side opposite to the one stop so not the posh side windmill, still seems to be a nice wide tree lined road and I'm surprised the property prices are not more.
Is there a bus service to the train station for commuting ? Didn't see any nice pubs nearby, always nice to have something to walk to.0
