Afternoon all
Hoping some petrol heads could offer suggestions for me based on the below criteria. Current 14 year old car might need replacing and looking for some suggestions
Budget of anywhere up to £5500 ish, looking for value for money so if you have a £2500 suggestion I would be all ears.
Ideally has cruise control (though not essential)
Good build quality/design
Around 8seconds to 60mph
No more than 6pot or 2500cc
Prefer manual
Nothing boy racer image
Under 10 years old
I am intentionally not going to say what kind of driving I do (city/ or long distance etc), as I dont want this to influence peoples suggestions.
Let your imagination run free

Lexus IS250 se/ se-l or a 220d if more appropriate.Don’t be a can’t, be a can.0

Thats a good shout, the IS250 has been at the front of my mind. However it would be around 9years old and at least 75k miles at £5500, would need to get a really good inspection done when viewing.0

Octavia 1.8 TSI elegance0

Import a Japanese Spec Legacy, 2005/6 with a turbo.
Don't worry about the 10yr bit as if you stick to Condition 4 they are immaculate and as clean and tidy as a 3 or 4 yr old car from the UK.
You will get something with under 100k km for an awful lot less than your top budget and not much over your lower budget.0 -
Honda Accord.0

VW EOS
5.5k should get you a 2l 08 plate0 -
The Eos looks nice, but and drop top shouts mid life crisis.
I think the Brera is a good shout, how is their build quality these days? Must say I love their interiors.
Mazda, Honda and Skoda are going to be well built, but I think I want something that I look forward to driving.0 -

The Brera is a relatively heavy car, and not terribly suited to the four pot 2.2. The 3.2 is outside your parameters. The JTDs are good for what they are but i wouldnt go for a diesel unless you have to.0
