This is outrageous practice, I know it's only £2, but the dirty thieves have charged me BEFORE they check whether they can 'verify my identity', which means a load of hassle which isn't worth my time, providing ridiculous numbers of ID documents.
Not to mention that they have not provided any reference number as stated so to get anything done I'm going to have to chase up into some corporate black hole to get one.
Dirty thieves.

Calm down dear!
I had the same message recently (and so have other recent posters), but then received an e-mail within a few hours saying my report was on it's way.
Seems to be a bit of a glitch with their system.
Check your e-mail account in the morning before ringing them.0 -
well I've already forked out £7 for one from Checkmyfile (who are also cheeky beggars and don't bother to tell you that you have to wait for a letter from them before you fork out the money), because I don't have any inclination to spend any amount of time on the phone to these sort of people, so I will be pised off either way.0

Yes they do...well I've already forked out £7 for one from Checkmyfile (who are also cheeky beggars and don't bother to tell you that you have to wait for a letter from them before you fork out the money...How it Works
...if you are unable to answer the online authentication questions correctly, we will send a ‘security key’ letter to you by first class post. This will be sent on the same working day you buy, if before 4.45pm, or if not, the next working day.
The security of your personal information is very important to us. The online authentication system can be reassuringly tough, so not everyone will be able to gain access to their report instantly.0
