What is the name for that thing that holds a lamp shade in place?

You put the lamp shade up and then put a white circular collar on about 2cm depth, it screws on to hold the lamp shade up covers the part where you screw in the light bulb, does it have a name??

  • When in doubt call it a 'thingy' when asking the sales man I am sure they will point you in the wrong direction for sure. ;-) Not the best answer by any way.
I just remember having a friend that could call most things 'thingys' and 90% of people would know exactly what they were talking about.

On a serious note hope you find it and let us know what it was called when brought and fitted.

    its a skirt,
a flared version is called an HO skirt, or Home Office skirt,
sometimes, [wrongly], called a TRS skirt.

They're sold here as "TRS pendants". But agreed, it is what was known as a Home Office skirt. (Not obviously in the case of a standard ceiling rose with a standard skirt presumably being described here.)

    you are right Risteard,
I'm originally from your part of the world, :D
but, when you get a TRS pendant, there is also a gland on the lampholder part, ;)
