Does non payment of any bill lower your credit score?

Hi,
I'm in a dispute with a web hosting company for £30 (long story). They've hired a debt collection company who've been calling me, they say if I don't pay it will lower my credit rating.
Now I don't want to screw up my credit rating for the sake of £30 but I also think they are just trying to bully me into paying. Will non payment lower my credit score?
thanks

If they report to a CRA, it will negatively impact your credit file.
With regard to any score, it could lower it or equally increase it, depending on what day it is.0 -
Thanks, and what if the £30 charge is completely unjustified? would I have to go to court to get this bad credit score removed?
I know its only £30 but I can't stand bullies.0 -

If the default is correct from the banks POV then the default on your credit history (not score) stays.
Your score is only seen by you and yourself only, no lender/bank etc can see it, all they see/care about is the credit history.0 -

Yes, in many cases CRA reporting is a form of blackmail. Most reporting organisations tell you as much in the T&Cs (if they have any), by using words along the lines of " ... if you miss a payment it could severely affect your ability to obtain credit"0 -
So can I just charge the MD of said company for all my time they've wasted then report him to CRA when he doesn't pay?0

Web hosting companies don't usually report to credit reference agencies. Check your terms and conditions. Assuming this is the case, only if they took you to court and obtained a CCJ could it impact your file.
I had a dispute with a hosting company once (possibly 1&1?) for about £50. I never got taken to court and it never affected my file.0 -
Thanks, I was more worried about the debt recovery company they sent on my tail thought it would be them doing the reporting.0

Unless it's in your terms and conditions, they can't report it either.0

Hey, new to this so please be gentle with me. Not sure where I am supposed to post, so please accept my apologies for imposing.
Anyway, I have recently started checking my credit file and I have noticed that there is a default on there from an energy supplier from a flat I lived in almost 6.5 years ago. While I appreciate that I should have paid this bill, I relocated to England from Scotland and other pressing matters took priority and over time, I completely forgot. During this time I have received nothing from the company and only realised when I noticed it on my credit report this week. I have also discovered the term Statute Barred and wondered if this would fall under that category, although the company in question have given a default date of April 2012. I am not sure that this date is correct or where it has come from, like I said, I have not had any contact with this company since November 2009. I suppose what I am asking is, Does Statute Barred apply and if so, is there a way I can get this removed from my credit file without waiting 6 years from the supposed default date?0
