Help with Catalougue Insurance

Hi all, i need some help please, as part of my debt clean up and facing all of my old problems i have come across a number of my statements for the catalougues i used to have.
Basically i had a lot, all were kept amazingly well until i became ill and had to stop working temporarily. I am now back working full time and cleaning up my debts. But one thing that has always bothered me is i was paying, on a number of them something called ''Shopping Insurance Covers your Purchases and Payments'' this was on things like Very, K&Co, ISME etc
Now i paid this on about 8-10 accounts thinking i was doing the right thing by covering myself, when i fell ill i contacted them all and asked for help because i couldnt make my repayments, i was told i was not entitled as i was self employed and they could not assist me in this, then i got really unwell and hospitalized, it took me a while to get benefits in place and everything got into debt!
My question is, is this a PPI and can i claim it back? As it didnt help me, i wasnt aware that i wouldnt be covered and i basically paid it all for no reason and am now left dealing with debts years later.
any advice would be much appreciated

You can try to complain about yes, but they weren't regulated prior to 2005.
Find out who owns them now, and make a complaint, you will probably be rejected. If you are, you then complain to the company that provided the PPI, in the case of most store store cards, this was GE Money.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0
