Radon pipe rusty - needs replacing

Hi, I have a thick, random pipe at the side of my bungalow. After researching it I think it's a passive radon pipe. Trouble is, it's grotty with orange rust dripping down in and I've tried spray painting it white again but it didn't stay. Question is, can I replace it as a diy job or do I need a professional? It's only the top part that needs cutting off and replacing. But will it be dangerous to do myself, with all that radon floating about?!?!
Thanks!!
Thanks!!

Radon doesn't explode or kill you by poisoning in an hour or two, so no.tudorfan22 wrote: »But will it be dangerous to do myself, with all that radon floating about?!?!

Another vote for Hammerite. Give it a good wire brush to remove any loose rust, then Hammerite can be painted straight over it.If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.0 -
Radon wont kill you in a few hours it’s a slow killer,,,,
It’s a localised problem some areas more than others and increasingly in new builds in those areas The actual Levels in your home is the important thing if its old system you might wont to check it still works not blocked broken filled in etc. Then think about painting / replacing parts etc its not hard to do if you can cut straightish line measure distance, hammer and screw you can do it pretty much all yourself ....
