HMRC basic tools, unable to download p60's for 2015/16 @ 8.4.16

i've finished off payroll for 2015/16 & basic tools confirms this, downloaded latest version 16.0.16076.450. (have checked this is the latest on HMRC site), started off payroll for 2016/17 & all ok. checked P60's on Wednesday & i thought it said would be able to download on/after 8th April, but still can't do now.

was a a similar issue last year, but that seemed to be related to people not having latest version, as per this thread.

can anyone else do their P60's? thanks

*lightbulb* just gone to copy actual tools error message & think i may have answered my own question! do you think the 17 at the end relates to version 17 possibly? so another update required before P60's ready?? current error message "A form 'P60 End of Year Certificate' cannot be generated for (2016-17) because the form for this tax year is not yet available - but will be following the next update due in March/April (17)."

Well, you can't print a P60 for 2015/16 until you have run the update.

Presumably you can't print a P60 for 2016/17 because we haven't reached the end of that tax year yet. I think you might need to select the 2015/16 tax year from the top menu.

talk about an obvious answer! sometimes i'd swear i take lessons in "how to make yourself look stupid"

switched back to 2015/16 & p60's now done, thank you

i will remember to switch back to 2016/17 for next payroll, promise!
