PureVPN - does their service work for you?

Hi folks,

i made the switch to PureVPN from Private Internet Access earlier this week. There was a 'lifetime' subscription deal with 89% off the usual price at StackSocial which is a US based website selling all sorts from gadgets to software. Worst mistake I ever made.

Their official iOS app (new and old) keeps disconnecting after just a few minutes or when the iPhone/iPad screen lock kicks in. Neither does it reconnect if a connection is dropped. 4th day of back n forth with their support bots who are utterly useless and simply repeatedly email the same KB links based on key words in your online chat or support ticket. I'm going round in circles with them and I have seen an army of users online with the same issue. AVOID this company at all costs!!

Unfortunately, I didn't see the 'non-refundable' tag when redeeming the voucher.
Stack Social have offered store credit but won't refund my money despite the fact that I'm not able to use the services of the company and the fact that they advertise a 7 day money back guarantee.

Is there any scope for recourse here or do I accept that I made a mistake and go elsewhere? I'm not familiar with US law but in the UK, I'm certain the law would have been on the side of the consumer. The product doesn't do what it says on the tin (not for me anyway).

Any advice welcome.
Thx

  • Personally, I'd go elsewhere. I used PureVPN for a short while, but didn't get on with it either.

I now use F-Secure's Freedome. The app works seamlessly and costs around £40 for the year (if I remember correctly). Can't fault the app, and it connects within a few seconds. Not had any issues in the 6 months I've been using it :)

I have been using PureVPN now for three months and is working great on me. I think you need to contact the vendor regarding your issue so they can help.

PureVPN has been working great for me since I signed up at the start of the year. I use it on PC (using their old software, and Viscosity) and Android.

The only issue I've had is that their 'SmartDNS' doesn't work reliably, and the support reply was that it's a Beta feature and is being worked on.

I guess you could install an OpenVPN client on iOS and use that instead of their software? I used to use one on Android for my previous VPN service, as they didn't provide an app, and it worked a treat.
