So in January I transfer my sister £30. Online banking is playing up an says not transfered plz try again. So I go bak to my account summary and it does not show the transfer, so I send it again check my balance all done an dusted. My sister calls 2 days later and says I've transfered it twice I check online an it has gone through twice, no biggie next time I see her she gives me bak the cash.
Fast forward 4 months to this morning my sister calls saying her bank have called sayin she was mistakenly sent £30 twice bak in January and they are taking it out of her account it must be the £30 she already returned to me. I check my online banking an go bak to januart and they indeed put the £30 from the duplicate transfer which it earlier stated did not go through bak into my account and I didn't notice.
So basically I'm going to have to refund the money back to my sister they are taking from her account which they put there in error although I've already spent it. My argument is although I did receive the cash bak I wasn't aware it was also returned to my account and as this was obviously a fault with the online banking system at the time should I really have to pay it back 4 months later? And are they allowed to do this?

Surely, its not the returned bounced payment that you have spent, its the money your sister gave you, so do you think you need to return the money to your sister, as she is £30 out of pocket?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Banking & Borrowing, and Reduce Debt & Boost Income boards. What's to prove your that your sister actually gave you the money. Or that you hadn't seen the refund earlier.0

The word you are looking for is "back" (among others, but that's the one that grates the most).clairedavis2009 wrote: »And are they allowed to do this?
Yes, because...clairedavis2009 wrote: »I didn't notice.0 -
You don't HAVE to give your sister the £30 unless you want to stay on good terms with her.0
