Sustainable Tax Charge

Around £2 a day for each adult
Im sure your not calling me a troll (you wouldnt say it to my face).... Yes im blaming them as although its out of their control they are the agency and thats what theyre being paid for otherwise i could have done everything individually. They aren't being paid to take into account possible future taxes, as by your own admission at the time of booking (when the contract was formed) there was no extra tax to pay. Nor are they liable for this - the lead passenger is. Read the T&Cs.
Just a note - only reply if your willing to put some valued feedback. I dont care about anyones opinion as my question is simple.
I would quite happily say it to your face - not sure why I wouldn't?
Your inability to read up on news for a country you are visiting is not the TA's fault or problem, it is YOURS.
You have to pay. When the contract was taken out, legally, the tax was not in force. Therefore as it was added by the destination country after the contract had formed, you are legally liable to pay the tax, which you would have had to pay regardless of how you booked - it has been put in place by your destination government, not the travel agent.
You seem to be directing your ire at completely the wrong people.0 -
I'm no fan of travel agents but in this case it isn't their fault. It's simply unfortunate that you booked right before it was introduced.
Unfortunately no-one is going to tell you what you want to hear as the tax simply isn't avoidable.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

Why wouldnt you? - because trust me you wouldnt get that chance.
I completely lost interest in the rest of your response as someone else gave an answer rather than opinions.
For clarity and those with opinions - the principle is (imo) dont change conditions after the deposit. I like it simple tell me BEFORE that theres a possibility of ANY charge not after.
This is the job of TA imo. For sure i would have had to pay this if i didnt go through a TA but guess what - i went onto the hotels site and mid way through it mentioned the tax (and you can see historical page content) - LOL they have made it clear before the tax came into play but TA didnt!!
Lets not go into economies as i know some of you have plenty of time on your hands but i cant keep coming back to respond to your opinions and thoughts.
Im happy for an admin to close thread as i have the simple answer i required. Thanks to those.0 -

Exactly - i came here for an answer. Original question "Do i have any favourable options?" (gave some background in case the answer is conditional) a simple yes or no is all im after.
I didnt ask anyones opinions and therefore throwing your own opinions only escalates.

Unfortunately you don't get to decide if the topic is closed or not .
If others wish to continue the discussion that is their prerogative and absolutely nothing you can do about it. That's how public forums work.
There may be others who want to discuss this tax (or get more background on it) Once the admin remove the gutter language this might turn into a useful thread...... whether you will be here to participate it depends of whether your language gets you a ban or just a warning though.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

Well i have my answer and thats all i needed.
As i said i know most of you have plenty of time so i will leave it here. I dont really participate on this forum as theres a lot more people that know more than me so it doesnt make any difference if im banned or not (ive been a member since 2007 and have posted more within the last 15 hours than the last few years lol). I will let you lot discuss until you're satisfied. See ya!!0 -
The devil as always will be in the detail. I'll bet if you read the T&C's, somewhere in there will be a clause exempting them from unforseen taxes or something similar.
It's hardly their fault if the authorities in the country you are going to decided to introduce such taxes. When we went to Sicily last year we found when we got there we had to pay a 2 Euro/day hotel room tax. Nothing we could do about it as it had been brought in by the town council.0 -
It's like when VAT rates increase - nothing you can do except bite the bullet.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole
