Hello
I wonder if anyone has some advice on this for me. I have been with Lloyd since I was a child and as a student had various overdrafts, loans and creditcards with them up until I was about 35. (15+ years).
During this time I consolidated and was encouraged to roll it all into a loan, each loan got bigger and resulted in many incarnations of debts.
I have recently put in for a PPI claim for the most recent loan, but wrote on the form asking them to check any other credit linked to my account (I gave my old sort code and account number)
Will Lloyds only check the loan relating to the number I gave or do they have a duty to check all of the loans and cards I have had over the last 15 years?
Thank you for your time.

If you've asked them to check all your accounts then that is what they should do. If you don't believe the result when you get it you could always spend £10 and go the SAR route0

You say you wrote this request on your complaint form? I doubt very much any complaint handler will look elsewhere than at the loan you are complaining about. In addition, you can hardly make any complaint about PPI that you don't even know existed.Will Lloyds only check the loan relating to the number I gave or do they have a duty to check all of the loans and cards I have had over the last 15 years?
The only exception to this is if your consolidated loans were linked by front-loaded PPI where one loan's insurance was carried over to the next so attracting extra interest. If you had this then it's an almost guaranteed successful complaint, by the way
You can certainly make a separate informal request that they inform you of any PPI you may have had elsewhere, but this will also constitute a separate complaint. If they respond saying you didn't have any, then you can pay £10 for a more thorough Subject Access Request ( the SAR which the other post alluded to) which will net you everything they have kept on file for you.
You say that your consolidated loans;
"resulted in many incarnations of debts".
Do note that if this is the case and you defaulted on any of this debt then the Bank can offset any outstanding monies even if your complaint is successful.0 -

Thanks again for you detailed response.:T I can see where you are coming from. It would have been more sensible to get the SAR first! I have paid off every single debt I have ever owed and never been bankrupt or had an IVA, so I think I will be OK. Thankfully I am now debt free, but no savings...I am working on that!0
