N-Power Electricity/Gas

Hi All, Im new to this so please bare with me. I have received a letter from N-Power in relation to our Gas/Electricity, it informed us that we are £1, 200 pounds in credit as a result of the money taken from our direct debits. We are , well we have just bought a second home and are in the middle of re modernising it. So we thought we would reclaim the very excess money and use it to pay for some of the cost of doing up the house. I have just come off the phone to be told that if we take the 1200 that is lying in our account, our monthly bills " WILL INCREASE " by 30 to 35 pound a month more than what we are paying...Having asked the question about me being penalised " FOR TAKING MY OWN MONEY OUT " I was told, thats just the way it is and how it works...As you can imagine having asked for a reason, they couldnt give me one...What a bloody rip off...HAs anyone else had this happen to them....Im jacking them in when I move into the new house and switch supplier........:mad:

Yes this can occur, but more usually in late summer/autumn when people have accrued credit over the summer.

What the supplier is essentially saying is that they see you are hugely in credit and are repaying that back to you slowly over many months in the form of a reduced monthly payment.

But you can claim the lot back today, but that will raise the monthly payments to the correct level.

This MSE article is a good read to assist you from getting in this situation in the first place :)

As for switching supplier, consult a comparison site to find the best deal for you. :)

Before Christmas, Npower automatically refunded my accumulation, which was only about £200, but they put my DD up from£48 to £84.

However, yesterday, they dropped it to £67, as I have taken a cheaper tariff and will probably drop it again in June.

I've never had a problem that has not been easily sorted.

If you checked your bills, statements and the meter a bit more often you wouldn't get into that situation
Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers
