Car Insurance Cancelled due to previous insurance void
Hi everyone,
Back in 2013 my bf was stopped due to not having insurance, car impounded, fine & ppints.
I took out a policy with go girl to release the car, got to police station who said go girl policy doesn't cover impounded car so we went with an insurer that did.
All was fine.
In February when due for renewal I went with Lloyds bank as cheaper. Few weeks later they requested copies of driving licence etc, I sent these over then they said sabre wants to know why I didn't disclose the go girl void policy. I explained that I didn't realise I had to.
Then didn't respond to me then they cancelled the policy.
What are my options please ? Will any insurer accept us now ?
Thanks

You need to expand a little more - did gogirl cancel the policy, or did you? I'm assuming the police rang them at the time, and explained the situation?0

Most insurers ask the question 'have you been refused insurance in the last 5 years' which although not the same phrasing as you used amounts to the same thing.
You could try a broker, being upfront from the off about your history as that will limit your options, and see what they come back with. A number of the standard comparison sites will just say no if you answer 'yes' to the question I posed above.0 -

They ask have you ever, you'll always need to declare it.0 -

The question asked on Lloyds Bank's car insurance quote form is...
"Have you ever had motor insurance declined, voided, cancelled or had special terms imposed in the last 5 years?"
There is an information box by that question which explains that as...
"Insurance declined
An insurance company can cancel or decline cover for a number of different reasons. Please specify if you or additional drivers have had your policy cancelled, voided by a previous insurance company or if they have refused to cover you for the next years insurance. You will also need to specify if you have had any special terms imposed. You will need to disclose this if this has happened to you or additional drivers in the last 5 years."
Given that GoGirl had cancelled the policy, which part of that made you think "NO" was the right answer?
Yes, you will be able to get insurance in the future - but it's very likely to be more expensive. You MUST give accurate answers, as insurers share details between each other to prevent fraud.0 -

As asked before, exactly what did you do with go girl?
Did you cancel the policy in the 14 days and pay the admin charge?
Did you just not bother paying for it, so go girl cancelled it for non-payment?
Did go girl cancel it as it was void from inception, because they don't provide cover for impounded cars?
(I have no idea why some insurers won't provide cover to release a car, what difference does it make where the car is when you take out the policy?)I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....
(except air quality and Medical Science)

and did you declare your partner's "Pending" Conviction which became a conviction?0
