The smart meter detects direction of current, so it can measure the power in and the power out. Household energy consumption does not need to be be measured.
I understand that the SM can detect direction of current but that current will be the net current ...household demand less any Exported PV power. We generate a consistent 2200 kWh pa. and our draw from the Grid has reduced from ca. 3800 to 2700 kWh is 1100kWh which is 50percent of our generation.0
