What's better? Low balance with high credit limit, or lowering my credit limit?

I have two credit cards which are both way below the credit limit:
- one zero-ish that I pay off every month with £6k limit
- one at £3.5k with £8k limit

My partner, also at my address, is applying for a credit card, so I was going to reduce the amounts to 1k and 3.5k respectively, so the amount of credit available at our house wasn't too big. BUT, does it look better that I am only using 0% and 40% of these cards?

What should I do? Reduce the limit, or leave as is? Advice gratefully appreciated.

With that sort of balance, I would keep your limit as it is. Try to get your balance down further, unless you're on a 0% promo.

Lenders will look at individual credit files, not houses, though they will assess financial associates jointly.
