buying tickets on ebay

I am really confused about selling tickets on ebay....
I was planning on selling some tickets via ebay which I brought originally to go myself and now the other half has booked us a holiday at the same time, so I was stuck.
Concert or Holiday?
I have decided to go on the holiday and now I will have to sell the tickets, but, I am a genuine seller and I am wondering if I need to maybe contact ebay prior and explain to them the situation. I have proof that I am going on holiday then so they can't very well pull my item can they, not if I have explained about it prior?
All very upsetting0 -

Ebay will not give you confirmation in advance as to whether your listing is valid or not, you will have to take a chance and hope it doesn't get pulled.
Look on the tickets and on any accompanying literature, does it say anywhere that they are not transfereable ? If they do then you can't sell them on. Even if they say nothing anywhere on the paperwork you might still find they cannot be sold, someone on here did once link to a site that explained the rules regarding tickets. Basically only licensed sellers can legitimately sell tickets, and those sellers have to declare a face value and give details of any restrictions on the view.
Of course though, unless someone reports your listing and ebay actually act you will probably get away with it anyway! Put them on a short auction and make sure you set either a reserve, or start off at a price you are willing to take if you want to go ahead. The worst ebay will do, assuming you have had no other warnings before for any reason, is pull the listing and refund your insertion fees. Tickets are such a grey area, it is difficult to know exactly where the boundary sits with selling them as a private seller.

often for big concerts someone has stayed up all night to get them
I think the days of queuing overnight are over since the net!i dont see the problem with selling tickets @ a profit
Only that it deprives the true fans who can't afford high prices and makes a quick easy buck for the touts - oh also ticket touting is illegal!
Theres no problem for the person who sells a pair of tickets because they can't go, but these parasites sell shed loads of them. I think they should be stopped - All multiple sales should be forced to collect from the venue - that would stitch them up.0 -
When I lived in Uxbridge I was a 10 min drive from wembley and I found myself taking every advantage of buying tickets for up and coming concerts. However as my husband worked shifts I would never know until a week or two before if he could go. (Sometimes tickets go on sale like 8 months in advance). Anyway there were quite a lot of times he couldn't make it and after looking for other people to go with failed I sold the tickets we couldn't use on e-bay. At first I was in heaven seeing the prices I paid for the tickets double when I thought I would loose money. However I actually stopped myself buying tickets in the end unless I knew we could go. Reasoning was because I was dying to get my hands on a few concerts Madonna being the main one. I took the day off work to get myself in a position to buy the tickets. Went on line and on the phone and no matter what I did I could not get through. When I eventually did they were sold out. You would expect that from such a popular artist, but what really peeved me was that the very same day I couldn't get tickets, e-bayers were selling them for triple the asking price!! That is touting!! and it should be banned from e-bay. I was also bitten by an e-bayer. Couldn't get tickets for Justin at Earls court so bought from what I thought was a genuine "can't go" person. When the tickets didn't turn up I got a bit edgy and considered cancelling the transaction and trying again. I found the exact same advert from the same person selling my tickets. Cut a long story short he was banned from e-bay but had to go through my credit card company to get the refund. No matter how much you want the concert buying from these touts gives them authority to steal these tickets from you at source. The only way to get tickets is through official sources and stamp these buggers out.0

I agree - Also what you were doing was not touting in my view.0 -
Whilst asking extortionate prices for tickets on Ebay is highly unethical, when I think "tout", I think of a gang of grimy, middle-aged men who aggressively demand your spare tickets for £5 only to sell them to someone else in the queue for £50 a few seconds later. On occasions that I've tried selling a single spare ticket for the asking price outside of a venue, I've had several of these guys attempt to square up to me! Ebay extortion pales in comparisson to such hustles..
maccyB.. You lived in Uxbridge? I live close to there now.. Kinda weird realising that this online community that I've been silently privvy to for these last 6 months might well be people I've passed in the street!
