Plan drawings

I need planning Permission to put a canopy over my patio and to erect a carport in front of our garage. I didnt expect this extra cost but the council says I need it.
I also have to get an architect to draw up plans/elevations/diagrams etc and this looks like its going to cost hundreds of pounds. Any ideas how to minimise this cost? I am told it needs to be scaled 1:1250 and very detailed so I cant have a go myself. Does anyone know any online programmes that could generate diagrams.
This has set us back as we had someone ready to erect them next week! Thanks

A 1:1250 plan is of the local area. You can buy them online for about £15. The planning portal has links to approved sellers.
Elevation plans would usually be 1:50 or 1:100. You could draw your own with a scale rule.
Plans don't have to be particularly detailed, so I don't know where you've picked that up from.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Thanks for replying. I had no idea accessing a site map would be so easy! I have indeed found one online. I used the wrong word. Council said they have to be very 'accurate' not 'detailed' so apologies for that.
I had never come across a scle rule either but have now looked at a couple of youtube videos and I think I will give it a go myself! Thankyou very much!0 -
Glad to be of service!
