Hi I am in the process of paying off small debts on mine and my husbands credit file we both had stupid mistakes from our younger years which have prevented us getting a mortgage this year
o have been advised to pay off anything and improve our credit. Anyway I moved and had recently got hold of a letter from 2 addresses ago regarding a default which was becoming a CCJ in my maiden name. I phoned and paid straight and they stated they would try to report this to be cancelled however it is on my credit report already! Should I chase this is there a way to get this removed as I paid it on the timescale stated?? Anyone experience anything similar?

Which is on your credit report? The CCJ or the default, or both?
If paid within one calendar month of the judgment date you can have the CCJ cancelled.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

In that case, if the creditor does not update the court themselves to remove it, you can ask the court to cancel the registration yourself.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

http://www.trustonline.org.uk/understand-judgments-fines/ccjs-and-county-courts/county-court-judgment-records-how-long-ccjs-stay-on-recordRemoving judgments: paying within a month
If you pay your county court judgment in full within one month of the judgment date, it will be removed from the register.
You may have to tell the court this yourself – the person you owed money to may not have done so.
Step by step guide to removing judgments
Here’s what to do if you paid within a month- Search the register First, search the register to see what is recorded against you. If a county court judgment is shown, and you paid in full within a month, you can apply to have the judgment removed.
- Contact the court This will be the court where your case was last dealt with. There is a form to fill out, and you’ll need to know the claim number.
- Get confirmation You’ll also need written confirmation from the person you owed the money to (so get a receipt). If you can’t get a confirmation from the person you owed money to, the court will write to them for you.
- Pay a small fee And there is a fee to pay – the court will tell you this

Thank you! I've phoned the solicitors who I settled it with and it looks like I've got with I the deadline for cancellation by the skin of my teeth!! They are now applying to the court for it to be cancelled but said its within the timescale so it will be removed and the default will be classed as settled now0
