Brighthouse Insurance???? HELP PLEASE

By back door (the one left unlocked) I guess you mean into the communal area, at base of the stairwell perhaps. That, along with the front door (the one with the superglued rock) are both outside your control and a normal insurer would not penalise you for these.
Leaving the balcony window open was a bit of an invitation. Most insurance policies have security clauses stating all windows and doors * must be secured when the house / flat is unoccupied. Many will also insist windows are locked and specific types of locks fitted to doors.
* Doors under your control that is.
However, as I said before, Brighthouse are not an insurer and seem to make up their own rules. The communal doorways may be an issue for them, unfairly so in my opinion.
Finally, you can get debonder for superglues. The true name for superglues is cyano-acrylates so look for a debonding agent for that. Model making shops / craft shops usually sell small tubes used for unsticking fingers
PS: Are you sure about the 70feet. 1st floor would only be around 10 feet off the ground normally (so say 14ft for the balcony) or maybe a bit more if there is a retail unit on the ground floor.0 -
sounds like at a minimum you need contents cover rather than paying brighthouse extra cash for very little0

well we have rung the council AGAIN today and suddenly now there has been a break in there apparently sending some straight round to look at these doors, basically the "back door" is kept open with a piece of carpet, i move it all the time then theres a stick basically anything somebody can find at the time, then the front one glued. The balcony window is only just big enough to maybe at a push get my 2 year old through let alone a male or female big enough to rob a TV. Yea sorry didnt mean 70 ft the batteries in my keyboard are going it should of read 17ft from ground level to the window, the flats actually sit slightly lower than the road. so As the doors are beyond our control regardless of the numerous calls etc is it still "my" fault that there was no forced entry as they clearly had easy access to the building itself and if they knew we were out (at night) they had all the time they wanted to play with the door to get in?0

Let me know when Brighthouse give you a decision on your DLC claim, and what it is0
