Own a hotel do you ?

This was in a Consumer Action Group email yesterday.

    Dear CAG Member
Are Councils overcharging for water rates?
Some Council tenants pay for water and sewage rates via their rent

It turns out that many Councils, unbeknown to their tenants, are overcharging for these services and pocketing the difference.

Southwark Council, for instance, between April 2010 and July 2013, had overcharged it's tenants by £8.4 million.

One Cagger from Essex, who was previously paying £10.35 per week, has had this reduced to just £4.65.

Makes you wonder how many other councils are defrauding tenants and how widespread this practice is.

On the point of water rates...If you were not already aware...If your rainwater drains into soakaways rather than into your mains drains then you should not pay for this in your water bills...If you know your rainwater goes into your soakaways...It is worth checking that your water company isn't still charging you....:D It will be on your water bill....

I can see we've had a report of the Fruit Bowls failing this time - picking up M at straight £2 instead of 2 for £2. I have seen the mbuy being displayed in different Ms more often than not, although I've also seen a small number not showing the mbuy, so it looks like we've been caught by that sort of thing again:mad:.

I think there's not much change in M today - the Fox's Rocky Bars have gone up to £1 and the Mini Cheddars have of course gone from 85p to £1.

I thought the Whitby frozen prawns were going up to full price, even though they were still scanning at £1.87 offer price on Monday, because I had one store showing full price SELs. However, it's now clear that I removed them wrongly from the list. They are it now seems continuing on offer until 15th May.

I've also wrongly said that the Korma and others are 400g in M. In fact they are 450g like A - I think I've heard that one or other of them was comparing although I'm never sure which precise range of ready meals compare against what other range. I think it's only the Chow Mein (of the Chicken with Pilau Rice meals) that is 400g in M.

I don't think the RTC squashes and some of the RTC energy drinks in M are really gone but I think, in effect, they are gone because they are in so fewer Ms now that it's extremely unlikely they will be picked up and compare. I think the Robinson's Lemon & Mango (1L) at 75p will have been bought out by now and gone from most places. I also think the Capri Apple & Pear 5 pack on 97p RTC (although one short-dated pack was available at 65p on store-specific price) will be on the way out now. I think the Lucozade Tropical 1L will be gone. I think the Rockstar Bubbleburst 500ml might be in too few Ms now to stand a chance of being in a collection store. However, I think the Jucee 6x200mls, whilst I've now lost them, might just about be okay this time but not from next week. I think the Relentless Tropical Juiced, which was only added from Monday, will still be around.

The Red Bull Zero 250ml may pick up 75p, but I think Tropical won't work because there's no current price displayed on that. However, there's now also a 12 pack version on another RTC.

There's some Rustler's on £1 and Green's Lemon Pie Filling and similar gone down to 40p. Other items obviously as well, since I always get lots every time even if not much has changed. It's seems M have brought some new food storers into the stores - I say "seems" as I can't rule out the possibility that they have existed for years already in some store I've never been to:rotfl: but, ignoring that what seems unlikely possibility, they have Whitefurze 2L food storers - I have blue, green and pink - three separate versions - at £1 each.

I've seen too many Ms not displaying an mbuy anymore on the M Milk Chocolate Digestives. Last time, I ended up with only one store showing it and I thought that they were still on mbuy but I wasn't sure that the store showing it was correct. I think - although there's still a grey area regarding whether I have in fact got correct information at the till in one store as the next store's SEL seemed to contradict it but it's possible they have it wrong - the situation is that M Milk Chocolate Digestives (300g) are on mbuy but M Milk Chocolate Digestives (300g) are not.

That's right - two different barcodes:rotfl:. There's slightly different pack designs and the ones that are on mbuy may have two fewer biscuits even though the packs are the same weight. It seems that 5 010251 629306 are 60p and 2 for £1 but 5 010251 709473 are straight 60p.

I imagine however, even for an M that has the mbuy biscuits, the chances of the APG missing the mbuy are now quite great, since many Ms (for me at least) are now showing 60p SEL and no mbuy being displayed - unsurprisingly if they also have the version that aren't on mbuy. However, whilst I was clear and had it settled at the till in one store, the next store gave me a bit of grey again as it had what I understood to be the version that aren't on the mbuy. It is displaying the mbuy - maybe it is now wrong however and it's now only one of two stores - I don't know which version is stocked in the other - displaying the mbuy for me. The reason I don't know what the other store stocks - and it's possible it may stock both versions like the store where I checked at the till - is that it only became clear there were two versions at that later store.

McVities 500g chocolate digestives (both milk and dark) are still available in M at £1, despite disappearing from online and I hope the price collection stores now have correct offer pricing showing, although at £1 they work out worse than the mbuy version of the own brand. I think it's SP Milk Choc Digestives vs T:rotfl:.

M do have 114g Cadbury's Milk Chocolate Fingers. They are at £1. I think Ms are moving to a "bigger value" pack and some may now only have that version and not also the straight 114g version - however, that's no excuse as M do still have them! The "bigger value" pack probably isn't as good as the twinpack on £1.25 but that was £1 in T recently so that's also in turn no good.

Anyway, not much change and I'll alter things as best as I can later. It will be a lot later on, as again I have other things to sort now for much of the rest of the day.:)
