Is anyone else driven bats by updates?

Yesterday I was trying to put something onto the google calendar on the main computer but it was refusing to save and just said try again later. I did try later by which time the calendar was blank, totally emptied

    Panic set in

OH said shut the main computer down. Well I'd tried to do this on Thursday. We had a planned power outage for the day so about 10 to 9 I tried to do a shut down. Instead main computer wanted to do 12 updates  so the power went off before it completed and afterwards I totally forgot, didn't switch on until early evening.

So I again tried to shut the computer down but this time it had 20 updates to do  - eight more than Thursday :( so in all it took about half an hour to do the updates, shut down and restart.

I've no idea why it wants to do updates when its shutting down rather than when re starting which would be far more logical.
I've also no idea why needing updates would affect google calendar in such a dramatic fashion.

but Google calendar is back to normal now so all it right with the world but if your main computer is having hissy fits for no good reason it may need updating

What OS are you on mhoc? There's ways round this most of the time.

I got a free 4 pack on Tuesday. Paid £3 in Morries and was paid out £3.75 yesterday  not sure how consistent this is? I was only expecting £3 back. I have another free 4 pack to redeem today if I get to the shop.

It's lovely to see the Carling has helped bring this thread back together again as I thought free/cheap carling would and it's lovely to see everyone having a play with it:):T:T
Maybe we should pick a Saturday in The summer and call it ". Elite carling BBQ day":beer::beer::beer::j:j:j:j
