Is anyone else driven bats by updates?
Yesterday I was trying to put something onto the google calendar on the main computer but it was refusing to save and just said try again later. I did try later by which time the calendar was blank, totally emptied
Panic set in
OH said shut the main computer down. Well I'd tried to do this on Thursday. We had a planned power outage for the day so about 10 to 9 I tried to do a shut down. Instead main computer wanted to do 12 updates  so the power went off before it completed and afterwards I totally forgot, didn't switch on until early evening.
So I again tried to shut the computer down but this time it had 20 updates to do  - eight more than Thursdayso in all it took about half an hour to do the updates, shut down and restart.
I've no idea why it wants to do updates when its shutting down rather than when re starting which would be far more logical.
I've also no idea why needing updates would affect google calendar in such a dramatic fashion.
but Google calendar is back to normal now so all it right with the world but if your main computer is having hissy fits for no good reason it may need updating“Create all the happiness you are able to create; remove all the misery you are able to remove. Every day will allow you, --will invite you to add something to the pleasure of others, --or to diminish something of their pains.”0 -
Sorry to hear your cat is so poorly, it's heart breaking watching your pets slowly fading away.
It's 6 years since we lost our beloved dog, i slept downstairs on a chair for a month before he died as he couldn't go up the stairs anymore.
He died 12 weeks after being diagnosed with cancer, then 2 years later to the day, i was also diagnosed with cancer.
I still miss him so much, he was with me 24 hours a day. Daft thing is, i say goodnight to him everynight as i walk past the casket with his ashes in.
I sound like a right nutter don't i..... Nobody answer that, lol
Not at all. My kitty didn't move all night and she's very weak so vets for me today. Ds2 has said his goodbyes this morning. Probably as much compassion as I ever seen him show but still ended with 'but you are old'He will be fine if he's not expecting her to be here at home time.

Happy birthday Your Majesty and morning all
I see we have turned into a thread full of Porsche owners overnight. I used to be obsessed with them when I was younger, so the Christmas after I turned 17 my lovely dad bought me a brand new 924 :A
It came in a little box a few inches long :rotfl:
FC your words about spending money last night came at a very good time for me. I've been dithering about an expensive purchase for a while. We can afford it but it's indulgent so feels like we shouldn't, but you're absolutely right and I'm doing it today0 -
this is a good offer. We had a weekend in Edinburgh last August and we went on this boat trip - not sure if it was a groupon or living social deal we did but I am now on their mailing list.
The tickets are valid until October so plenty of time to use them.
we used the train from Waverly through to the station before Queensferry (???) and then its about a 10 min stroll to the quay. Its a lovely boat trip. You can also stop off at Inchcolm a little island and have a few hours there - its National Trust for Scotland so that bit is extra. Altogether a really fab family day out and we got really close up to grey seals
