Just sending a big hug to Altojack as I a m so sorry for what you went through with the op. When my retina detached for the 1st time I went in at short notice for the op and they put in a local anesthetic. But when I asked if someone could hold my hand as I was terrified they said no. With that i said well you cant operate unless I have a general and I had to stay overnight and have the op next day. I had 4 ops over 6 months and was lucky the professor did all 4.
I think it appalling they didnt tell you a trainee was doing it. I hope it soon gets better. Take care and look after yourself x
