Good afternoon Elite :hello:
Hope everyone has enjoyed the sunshine today. I have to stay away from it as its too bright for my eye even with sunglasses
Well, as I said to tweets yesterday, if this had been my first cataract to be done I wouldn't go back for the other one to be removed
I arrived at the hospital just before 9am on Monday morning and eventually got called through. I had to have 3 lots of 3 drops put into my eye, same as before. By the time I got taken into the operating room it was 11.15am, quite a delay for some reason but wasn't told what the hold up was.
As I was reclined in my chair/bed thingy things got under way. The blue cloth was placed over my face then I could see the ceiling out of the hole that they would operate through. I then felt such pressure on my eye ball and a two way conversation between who ever it was doing the op and someone standing at my left side. It was obvious to me by then that this wasn't my consultant doing the op but a trainee who kept saying "I don't think I should have done that" and "Have I cut that too far?"
The conversation went on all through the op, I had to have more anisthetic in the eye as I was in pain  I held my breath at one point and a voice asked me if I was alright? I felt like crying at that point but held it in.
Now, if I had been approached and told there was a trainee around, did I mind if they did the op, I would have had the choice. I know these people have to have hands on experience, I'm all for it, but I just feel so aggrieved about the entire experience
It made me in a bad mood when I was wheeled out, who should wander over to see how I was? My bil , who took us there and sat with dh whilst I was getting done  where was dh? Sat in the bloody waiting area, I told bil to go back as I didn't think he was allowed through there with me and to tell dh not to bother coming through at all, to just go outside and I'd see him out there  I was bloody livid. Stupid dh didn't realise I was being sarcastic, he didn't bother to come over to me because I'd said not to  I wanted to cry still but couldn't as I was on my own
Vision wise I've had problems, very blurred, I couldn't follow the thread as eye ached and stung immensely but it feels a little better today. Sorry about the use of large text the other night but I needed to see what I had written :rotfl: :rotfl:
Sorry about the novel , I'm going to have a quick read of a couple of pages then rest my eyes as they are aching now.
Thank you to for all the good wishes, they mean so much. tweets has kept me informed and I think I may have a text or two from her that I couldn't see to read :rotfl::rotfl:There's no place like home
Feeling down? Weak in body? Makes no difference to me, I think of you all when I'm sitting quietly.
