  • I agree with the others that the poster has a vendetta against the developers. I know that area very well.

The newly built properties are built in an area that has never flooded in the 30 years I've been here.

And if the flood risk was that great, the council would not have granted planning permission pure and simple.

  • It would be nice to be able to have so much faith in councils. I've moved from an area with a pretty efficient Council - BUT they've granted planning permission for housing to be built on flood risk areas in recent years and the locals are sitting back and waiting to say "Told you so....." to the Council in effect. Enough locals told the Council it wouldnt be a good idea - but they went ahead anyway....

All the more surprising as some of the Councillors at the time were locals themselves (born and bred in area) and so really should have known better...
  • The comment made by MONSIEURFRU that he knows the area well and has lived there for many years without any flooding is without credence. Many householders have lived in an area where there may have not been flooding since they have lived there. It does not get away from the fact that the plot where the property in Penybontfawr is located, is clearly marked by the Natural Resources Wales Area plan, as being in a risk area. As such many of the Insurance Companies including ones like NFU who insure many rural villages will not cover such risks.
