Just recentley bought a new 17 inch tft monitor and was over the moon till i went into play some games ie bejeweled and the kids have mentioned it happened with them too, while playing the game , the game takes over the full screen and then i get the message about screen resolution best being set to 1280x1024 which i have checked and it is set to that and it is only during some game play that this message comes up it also stated 1 to cancel message or 2 to disable message but the mouse wont click on it and hitting 1 or 2 on the keyboard does nothing, this really can be annoying as last night i was playing bejeweled and message blocked over the jewels which meant i could play the timed version, now i looking at the monitor im wondering if it could be anything to do with graphics card? i only have onboard graphics but other games seem to run fine without displaying this message. Anyone any ideas on how to disable this message or am i stuck with it?
The more i save the more i can spend:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

The only requirements i can see are for windows 98 or higher, im running xp home so that should be fine, also when im running the game as non full screen i dont get that message then, how easy would it be to install a graphics card? and to disable the onboard ones? The more i save the more i can spend:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:0

installing a graphis card is easy.
check you motherboard has either an AGP or a pci slot.
most later motherboards have at least one agp slot specifically for a graphics card.
shutdown pc.
disconnect form power supply.
take of side panel
install card
put side panel back on
connect power
boot up pc
when it asks for disk to load the software, insert cd that came with card......
and bob's your uncle......
I have installed a crd into my home pc, but havent needed to disable the onboard one, due to connecting the monitor to the new graphics card, rather than the socket on the motherboard, the graphics card will have the same small socket.smile --- it makes people wonder what you are up to....

I don't think it's related to your graphics card. In fact I wouldn't even consider purchasing a graphics card.
It sounds like a problem with the game. You mention it doesn't occur with other games, this is a good sign. What resolution are you running the game in? This appears to be affecting the resolution in Windows, hence a popup occuring advising you to run it in a higher resolution. Sounds like the game is causing a conflict with Windows, have you googled about problems with the game?"Boonowa tweepi, ha, ha."0 -
I actually think it is the monitor (or it's software) which is causing the message to occur.
Being a 17" TFT it is highly likely that the native resolution is 1280x1024, which is the resolution it runs best at. The game might well be using a lower resolution e.g. 1024x768 or 800x600. The monitor (or it's software) is detecting the resolution change and displaying the message.
Check the system tray to see if you have any control applications (by the clock) for the monitor. If so quit them and then try loading the game.
Sometimes the monitor itself, not Windows displays these messages. When this is the case you use the monitor controls to cancel them.Hug provider for depression thread :grouphug:
