Could be any one of the 02 providers. And just because it started off as o2 doesn't mean it's o2 now. And even if you do trace the network, they aren't going to tell anyone.

Report fraudulent activity to the police.

    bengalknights, GiffGaff aren't 07545 or 07936 either (http://telephone-number-checker.co.uk/area-code/07545).

tronator makes the most valid point, MNP means that any number can be ported in or ported out as long as Ofcom has designated the number mobile and public. Also, it's not likely Telefonica allocated the entire 1m 07545 number range to GiffGaff as bengalknights suggests otherwise the number range would be allocated to GiffGaff by Ofcom, even if they are routed to O2s network, which it clearly hasn't been.

Mustbeenanswer??, if you post the number or PM me I'll tell you what network the number is connected to, if at all.

If a number ports to another network, the range holder (as shown on the links provided by previous posts) will not change.

It's not necessary for Ofcom to allocate an entire number range to Giffgaff, it is possible (yet unlikely) that Telefonica obtain a number range on behalf of Giffgaff. But since O2 (Telefonica) own Giffgaff I'd assume they just get the numbers from the same pool of available numbers.

    LazyTyper,
I think we are probably saying the same thing. The point I was trying to make (badly) was that if the entire 07454 range was GiffGaffs then it is likely, as is the case with other ranges, that GiffGaff would own it. As you say, this is all irrelevant as MNP changes all of this.

Mustbeananswer??, put LazyTyper and me out of our collective miseries and tell us what are you are trying to do.

Numbers in the mobile number ranges are allocated in blocks of 100 000 numbers at a time, so 07xxx1 could be a different operator to 07xxx2.

And, as previously stated, a particular mobile number could be on any network after porting.

Giff Gaff don't "own" any numbers, they are all in the Telefonica UK Ltd name.

Download a list from here, under section d: http://www.ofcom.org.uk/static/numbering/#pers

Look up the Telefonica ranges and you'll have a complete list of what 07 mobile numbers they have been allocated.
