Last year i bought the st tropez shower sef tanner and really liked it. I saw rimmel have brought out a cheaper version.
A shower self tanner sounds perfect! So you just rub it on like shower gel?

Well I have to say I didn't expect there to be so many self tanning options! Thanks for all your replies, I'm going to buy a few things to have a go with and see what gives the best (I.E. less streaky) results. I will let you know how I get on :)

Yeah, rub it in stand for a minute and then rinse off. It then develops into a no streak golden glow. St tropez one is around £20.

Well I bought a tube of Rimmel's in shower self tan and tried it out yesterday. The results were...not good.
You have to rub it on to your body at the end of your shower, and then rinse. It leaves a thick residue on your skin, so it was difficult to get dried without rubbing it off and I had to walk round the house to air dry. I didn't look particularly tanned at that stage, but last night when I got undressed before bed I had a lovely, (mostly) even glow. The were a few dark patches around my ankles and elbows where I hadn't applied it very evenly but that's only to be expected for the first attempt. Overall I was pretty happy with the results.
But then this morning I woke up and I had started to look very patchy...it had continued to darken over random patches of my body, so I had darker, bruise like blotches on my legs. I then had a shower and came out looking even patchier.

Also the smell: it didn't smell at all when I applied it or when I got dressed, but throughout the day the smell slowly got stronger, reacting with body heat and sweat I'm assuming. By the time I got in the shower this morning I smelt like sweaty, gone off biscuits :rotfl:

So it's fair to say it wasn't a great success. I'm going to give it another go though, this time I will exfoliate first and spend longer massaging it in to my skin to get an even spread. If that fails I'll just say sod it and get a spray tan.
  • Can anyone recommend a gradual face tan moisturiser? I'm looking for something like Simple's sun kissed moisture cream.

I don't want a cream that gives a major tanned look, just something to give me a bit of healthy colour. I can't wear foundation and BB creams bring me out in spots.

I did use the Simple one a few years ago but I can't remember whether I thought it was any good.

I've been using Dove's one occasionally through the winter and I really like it.
  • Fairy Lights I would highly recommend St Moriz - and its really cheap. It does not go patchy - I think it costs about £2.99 and the colour is the best I have found. Its very popular.

Natio is the best gradual self tan I've used it's very good. It has a faint fragrance but no biscuit after smell, no streaks, no dancing round naked while it dries and a lovely natural colour.

I can't post a link on my tablet but google Natio sun kissed glow gradual tan.

I thought about trying that but I expected it to be dark brown & I was worried that it might get to the white grout in the bathroom tiles when I was showering off & stain it?

The best face self tanner I've tried is the Elemis one.
