A number go to America. Possibly the best deal is on Oasis to Vancouver via Hong Kong. Two great cities for less than the price of one! And if you can get to Vancouver there is no sense at all going south to the USA.
Check out Fly Globespan to Canada. Again, Canada has all the plus points of the USA, yet is also a civilised country.0 -
Zoom are flying to New York.0

Zoom are really the first TransAtlantic Budget airline, but be warned, I haven't seen a good review from them yet.
US Airways are kinda a hybrid carrier, with flights into their Philadelphia Hub, sometimes they are great, other times, you forgive them for being cheap. (normally only about £30 - £50 more than zoom)
some zoom flights you have to change in BERMUDA to get to NYC for the cheapest fares... long way round that is IMO0 -

Odd, I've seen many good reviews of Zoom (including on this forum)
On the 2 occasions I've used them i've found them to be equal (if not better in ways) to the likes of Virgin and Air Canada, agreed my experience is only of Economy but it has still been good.Be ALERT - The world needs more LERTS0 -

By its very nature that site attracts far more negative comments than positive. People will complain about poor service but will not necessarily praise good service. Pick any airline you like on that site and you will see the majority of reviews will be negative. My experience of Zoom is they are ok, nothing special but fine for the price.
OP: If you want to go to the USA before Christmas try to go (and return) before the 14th December, the price after the 14th will be very much higher as the airlines always raise the price over the festive period. Late January or February are very good times to go to the USA as well, and yes consider Canada, great place to go for a holiday!0 -
The taxes Kill it anyway. I am goign to USA for Christmas and got tickets with KLM for £193 from Bristol to Atlanta. The tax was £170 per ticket. hardly fair is it?NO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!0

KLM have their own "taxes and charges": much of which they keep.
I recently tried to use some of my "miles" to travel with KLM. I could exchange them for an award ticket: zero air fare, but I would still have to pay the "taxes and charges". For the route I was considering, they compete with Easyjet. And the amount of "taxes and charges" that I would have had to pay on an award ticket would have been rather more than the total price, including tax, on Easyjet.
So don't blame the government for high add-ons to their fares.0 -
I don't know whether you're including NY but there's a thread for discussing cheap flights to New York, if that helps:
Cheap Flights to New York
Zoom also offers some £199rtn flights to NY :beer:0
