Exactly this.

The kids and I live in the rental and my husband lives in our flat. The initial idea was to sell the flat then my husband would join us and we'd wait till a suitable property came up, but now we have inherited just enough to put down for a deposit/MortgageMamma wrote: »Why would she be manipulating it? in my area if you have an older sibling in a school the younger ones automatically get a place there, they are prioritised. Popular schools can be so over subcribed that even having a sibling there isn't enough.0

I'm afraid you're wrong, all placing requests were refused last year and this coming year it ha spread throughout North Lanarkshire. A case of the council accepting big cheques from housing developers but not re-investing in schools.

Are you actually kidding me? You're happy to split a family to this end....
See above post.
We aren't split, the houses are in the same town just different catchment areas. Train station is nearer the flat we own therefore hubby stays there to work and the rental is nearer the school, so we stay there. It's not any worse than a parent who works away. I have in fact kept my kids together, for the entirety of their primary school years, as opposed to the X amount of time it takes to sell/rent my house.
But again, thanks for your concern regarding my family0 -
when you ask for advice and know that Scotland is different then why not say you are there to start with instead of setting people off on false trails...

I honestly didn't realise there was a difference between Scotland and the rest of GB or I would have indicated that, my bad. We all have to start somewhere, no-one knows this stuff from birth.
Thanks for your help, I'll be reading a lot over the next while.0 -

It's not even what you would term a 'popular school' its just the rate of population growth has increased and the council aren't doing enough to improve school accommodation.
Its not a shock however, my council are currently undergoing huge cutbacks and a new scandal is coming out every week with corruption.
One of the better stories was that the top tier of Local Council were being paid more than the Prime Minister.0 -
