    It speeds things up when FB etc is there but the guide only mentions adding email if it is the entry route, nothing about FB/TW/RC etc. So going by the guide there is nothing wrong by omitting RC or the others from the title.
    E: 30/06 (?)
    ......

    The Thread Title needs a short description of the prize that can be won,

    If the comp is entered by email or there is an age / location restriction then it is helpful to put that in the title in brackets, For Example, (U16)

    If a comp has a particular end time it is useful if it is posted in the thread title too, For Example, 5pm.

    So a few examples to sum it up:
    E: 28/12 Trip to New York (email)
    E: 15/09 Bee movie DVD (U16)
    E: 05/03 3pm Indiana Jones Goody Bag
    E: 07/01 £50 ToysRUs vouchers (email)(Oxford)

    Ideally the only entry method that does not need a mention is an online form, everything else, reg/log in, FB, TW, APP download, RC etc could be mentioned for the benefit of people who do not use them.

    I think that part of the guide was written before the influx of numerous Social Media / RC / Gleam comps ;) x

    hi, hope it's ok to add to the thread that i've sent a pm to VelvetGlove to ask if it would
    be plausible to update the comping guide for us all
    with adding the entry route
    guidelines in the title now that more comps are
    social media/twitter/FB/RC/ etc.

    Thanks grannybiker, you're right, I compiled the Comping Guide back in 2008 and the majority of comps were straightforward on-site-entry or email. :)

    I do try to keep the Guide current but can only do that successfully when members let me know that something needs updating or adding. I work full time and do still try to comp when I have some spare time so I don't often wander through Chat Corner. I rely on being alerted to things with pm's from members.
    (Thanks for the pm fire**fly :) )

    I've seen posters put the following in their titles, so I'll add these to the Guide:
    • RC
    • GL
    • TW
    • FB
    .
    So you tell me, are there any other er, 'extensions' I should add to the Guide? (without making it too complex for members to follow. For example, if it says GL then members should expect FB, TW and blog comments to potentially be ways to enter the comp, so I wouldn't expect posters to put a whole string of letters after their titles!)

    I'll subscribe to this thread so I'm alerted to any replies and will try to grab some time tomorrow to make the initial update to the Guide with the ones I've mentioned above, but do post if there are any others that NEED to be added - I know more heads are better than one :o and I'll pop back when I get alerted to a post on here!

    Thanks folks! :)
    Sad because you don't know what to do? :sad: Comping question? Take a look in the Comping Guide to find out :smiley:

    Maybe something like INST and PIN (instagram and pinterest) although I don't know if there are enough of them to bother with.

    Thanks

    It would be useful for raffle copters and gleam to know if there is a mandatory entry method that unlocks the rest. For example facebook or twitter. I agree that everything doesn't have to be listed in the title though.

    Crikey - 2008 :eek: Have I been comping that long? :rotfl: LOL! I remember it was written not long before and I read every word - was really useful. Thanks for such a useful guide.
    Glad Firefly thought to PM you. My brain's not firing on all 4 cylinders ;)

    So I've just updated to the Guide into the Posting Comps section, 6 How do I post a comp on here?

    I've copied an excerpt below to save you dashing off to the Guide, unless you wanted to :D I've still got this thread on notify in case I've been a doofus or missed something obvious in those er, 'extensions' (not sure what else to call them!) Thanks folks for helping me maintain the Guide and keep it current.

    This is what it now says:

    If the comp is entered by a specific means or there's an age / location restriction, it's helpful to put that in the title in brackets.

    Some of examples of this could be:
    Rafflecopter = (RC)
    Gleam = (GL) or (GLEAM)
    Email = (Email)
    Twitter = (TW)
    Facebook = (FB)
    Location restriction = (inside M25) or (town name) etc
    Under 16s = (U16)

    If noticed, it would be helpful to mention in the title if a particular action is needed to unlock the other entries on a GL or RC comp. For example, a FB action is needed before other entries are made available - perhaps: (GL, FB req'd) or similar.

    If a comp has a particular end time it is useful if it is posted in the thread title too.

    So a few examples to sum it up:
    E: 28/12 Win a Trip to New York (FB)
    E: 17/04 Win a Spa Break (GL)
    E: 15/09 Win Bee movie DVD (U16)
    E: 15/05 Take a Break issue 23
    E: 10/04 Win posh soap (TW)
    E: 05/03 3pm Win Indiana Jones Goody Bag (RC)
    E: 07/01 Win £50 ToysRUs vouchers (email)(Oxford)

    Thanks for updating the guide.

    Couple of quick things:-

    Your list has one comp with no end date in the title?

    Secondly would it be possible for people to put TW or FB after the RC if you have to have this to enter?

    EG https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/5445176

    I enter RC but don't have twitter and I imagine some people are the same with facebook.

    Thanks for spotting my Doofus moment :o and I've tweaked the wording slightly. Hope this is what you meant :)
