    If 285 is your best offer, and you are happy with that price, just tell them you're leaving it on the table until you've found something else. Or put a sunset on it if you think they're lying. E.g., offer stands until 5 pm tomorrow.

    Well no. Your point was that they are not passing the offer on to the vendor.

    I'd suggest that it's more likely they are passing the offer on to the vendor and then lying to you than not passing the offer on to the vendor and lying to you.
