Mortgage Broker vs IFA

Hi
I read the MSE 'First Time Buyers Guide'. As I know very little I've found this a valuable read as it answered a number of questions/concerns I had. The one thing I didn't fully understand was why there was no mention of the use of an [suitable] IFA to source a Mortgage as they can also source [independently] protection products. For my circumstances the guide suggested that a whole of market Mortgage Adviser might be right for sourcing my mortgage but then suggested you may not want to use them to get protection as they may be tied for that. So my question is, if I want to to source the best mortgage for me and mortgage protection should I just go to an IFA? Is there any reason why not?
Thanks
Chris

Some IFAs don't do mortgages.
Some mortgage brokers offer whole market mortgage and protection advice.
All you need to do is ensure whichever you are appointing offers whole market for both mortgage and protection.I am a mortgage broker. You should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it. This signature is here as I follow MSE's Mortgage Adviser Code of Conduct.
