Universal Credit and Voluntary work

Been to google and it's all rather vague and politicianspeak' so hope somebody here can help.
I'm on the all work group which involves the claimant commitment but would like to do some voluntary work.
The question is, would voluntary work hours reduce the claimant commitment job search hours which is 35 ?
Cheers.

..If you are working as a volunteer under universal credit, the time you spend doing voluntary work can reduce by half the number of hours that Jobcentre Plus will require you to look and prepare for work This doesn’t mean there’s a limit on how much voluntary work you can do. For example, if you are volunteering for 35 hours a week and you are required to look and prepare for work for 35 hours a week, this requirement can be reduced by half to 17.5 hours...

Mathematics is not my strong point, if I do 10 hours a week voluntary work, how will this affect the claimant commitment ?
    Cheers.

The honest answer is that I don't know. The maximum amount of time that can be "allowed" for volunteering is 17 1/2 hours.

My gut reaction is that it could be reduced by the full ten hours but you will really need to check this with your job coach who has the final say. I guess it might, also, depend on what the volunteering is.

Half the time spent volunteering counts towards your 35 hrs work search, up to a maximum 50% Ie 17.5 hours.
When people ask me "What do you do?"
I tell them "Whatever it takes."
