Recommendations for things to do in Newquay

Options
Hello all, have a holiday planned in June to Newquay with OH, I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for places to eat, drink, things to do - tourist and off the beaten path too! FYI I will be 8 months pregnant and I have a 20 month old toddler in tow....any advice welcome thanks!

    I guess surfing is out:D
  • Walk the coast path, it's spectacular.
  • Crantock beech and the Bowgie Inn that overlooks it are lovely.
Perranporth up the road is nicer, and has one of the only beech based pubs, the watering hole.

  • You may not be able to surf. But the beaches there are lovely. Nice walk paddling by the sea. Ice cream for the little one (and big kids). Find a quieter spot away from the crowds or go down a bit earlier. Weather depending.

Just a word of advice re car parking. A lot of car parks are operated by ParkingEye (2 or 3 car parks on Tower Road - Golf Club, Bunker Cafe and the Church next door I think) and Smart Parking on Fistral Beach. These are ANPR camera controlled car parks and your time starts and finishes from when you drive in/out - not the time on your Pay & Display Ticket.

The parking forum has many threads started by holiday makers issued with PCN's (Parking Charge Notices) in this area. Have plenty of change and always make sure you enter your Vehicle Registration No. correctly.
  • As with DollyDee avoid any car parks operated by Private Parking Companies as these cause misery for both locals and visitors alike.

Otherwise just enjoy our fantastic town. The most pleasure is gained from exploring our fantastic beaches. Getting in the water may be a little problematic in your state of confinement, but the beaches are well lifeguarded.

We've got the usual attractions of the zoo etc.

The local eateries are pretty good, but Newquay Town Centre isn't that kid friendly after dark.

The best chippy is "Flounders" in the high street, have a look at the harbour for some class restaraunts.

Worth a trip on the bus from Newquay to Padstow (think its the 56 or 556), which operates an open top bus in summer.

Take care in the sun, and near the coast path.
    Illegitimi non carborundum:)
