Hi all, sorry to be a pain but i have to clean the entire house tomorrow! It needs a bloody good seeing to as well, i have people coming over tomorrow evening and i'm scared as at the moment it looks like something from how clean is your house (but obviously not as bad)
Any tips for quick cleaning please? x
get off the computer and get on with it0 -
Get a box, put your spray cleaner, polish and dusters in a bucket. Grab the vacuum cleaner and cobweb brush.
Go into the first room. Put everything that shouldn't be there in the box, tidy away the things that should be there. Cobweb. Spray all surfaces with polish or spray. Get the duster and wipe down all the surfaces. Vacuum.
Room 2. Put away all the things from room 1 that are in your box and belong to room 2. continue as for the first room.
Go through all rooms. Time it takes depends on the clutter.
The last thing to do is empty the box.
This doesn't really include the kitchen and bathroom. I try to keep on top of those by 'wipe and swipe' every day. In the bathroom especially I find a wipe down of surfaces is easy and enough. I spray the toilet with white vineger. Clean the bath with Tesco value cream cleaner, wipe the shower door and polish with a window cloth. I use toilet paper to wipe down the toilet, flush. I clean the inside with cream cleaner and brush, flush. Lastly I wipe the floor over. It takes 10 - 15 minutes for a full go, 5 for a surfaces and toilet quickie. I do it thoroughly twice a week and a quickie for the rest. This is 45 minutes a week.0 -
If your guests don't turn up, well, at least you have a nice tidy house to relax in and it's a kick start for the next time. By the way, I use stardrops to clean everything now ( everything that's suitable!) saves loads of money by not buying flashy cleaning products. Still use bleach in the plug holes though:p0

My spray is 50/50 white vinegar and water. For wood I use cheap spray polish or a damp microfibre cloth.
My system looks complicated, but it is quick to do. because you carry your cleaning stuff and cloths with you, you are not nipping back and forth to get stuff.0 -
Things I do if I know people are popping round like if mymum calls and says "im just in town doing some shopping, il be with you in 5 mins", I grab everything that shouldnt be there in the lounge and shove it in a bin liner, and then put that in the understairs cupboard to sort out later, then, I go into the kitchen and put some zoflora on a jaycloth and rub all the worksurfaces down with it, makes the kitchen smell fantastic, and then, I spray some Mr Sheen polish in the air in the lounge. Smells like you've been cleaning like a maniac. If I need to to, i'l open the windows and back door till she arrives, just to get a draught through, and spray the carpets and sofas with a quick spritz of Fabfresh from b&m!

Almost debt free feeling, priceless.
Ex money nightmare, learnt from my mistakes and never going back there again, in control of my finances for the first time in my adult life and it feels amazing.0 -
I work f/t so quick cleaning is the only cleaning I do! I have it down to a T!
First - throw in a wash of dirty bathroom towels, oven mitt, tea towels and householdy things (not bedding as I wash it on a higher temp). I chuck in cushion covers & throws though. My washer takes 45 mins. Then throw open the windows/balcony.
Bathroom - put bleach in, leave whilst you..use a car sized sponge to clean the sink (cleans faster!) I use flash spray for almost EVERYTHING (and stardrops for upholstery/floors). Couple of squirts and the sink's done. Empty bathroom bin into bin liner & chuck in any bits. Turn on shower and wash out bath using big sponge & flash (the shower washes the dirty water away). Clean loo & flush. I have a tile floor so I hoover it and mop it once a week. Shake out bathroom mat over balcony. (Washed once a month). Change towels.
This only takes 10 - 15 mins at most!
Kitchen-Clean down surfaces with a big sponge (a different one!) and flash. Chuck any dodgy food into bin liner. Clean sink, put pots into dishwasher & set off. Clean handles/cubpoards as and when, probably once a month. Hoover (laminate floor) mop once a week. Oven gets the industrial treatment once a week!
20 mins (inc hoovering, wiping over appliances and hob)
Lounge - is always pretty clean. Dust table & glass cabinet for TV/skybox etc. Hoover laminate floor & rug. Spray sofa with fabrish freshener (we don't have removable covers). Wipe over leather recliner.
10 mins max.
Bedroom - change bedding, chuck the old lot in the laundry basket (big laundry day is sunday!!) Hoover carpet, make sure 'stray' clothes are put away. Wipe over bedside tables & lamps.
10 mins.
Study - the OH does this - hoover carpet, put things back on bookcase, dust the TV, computer and related matter, put the ever present ironing board and iron in the cupboard.
10 mins at most.
Last - hang out washing (or stick on the drier, if very pushed for time/lazy!) and stick the kettle on!!
Me and OH clean the whole house in less than the time the 45 min wash takes
