Halifax Balance Extra?

Options
Hi,

Anyone else come across 'Halifax Balance Extra' before?

I just logged into my online banking and saw it there for the first time. It's telling me i will have -£37 by my next pay day. It says:

"We've added up your pending debit card transactions, direct debits, standing orders and any regular account fees (not overdraft charges), and deducted these from your current balance - so we can estimate how much cash you have left until your next payday"

I've never noticed it before but it's an interesting idea.

As usual with these things it's hamstrung in its assumption that i don't have money with any other accounts.

Any thoughts from the board?

I seems a very good idea for those on a tight budget. In fact, regardless of how many accounts, you have you will at least know whether you will need to cover your Halifax account.
  • OP what sort of account do you have and where do you see this?

I have 3 Reward accounts and a Clarity credit card but dont see anything like this..

It shows up ocassionally on my Reward Account but it is always incorrect because it can't work out on what day that I will be paid.

    Nearly,

That's on my reward current account. It could be that it only showed up this time because it had generated a negative number. You definitely wouldn't miss it if it's there though because it's in red and everything else on the page is Halifax blue.

I also have a credit card but there is no detail for that, presumably because that is paid off a day or two after my salary goes in.

Ballard, I would still say hamstrung because it hasn't detected that I have regular payments going into the account at the same time every month, which means that I have never had a negative balance.
