Do you need a break from comping ??

Options
Well I've has a bit of a break from comping since Xmas, think it was feeling too much of a chore ...daily grind, anyway back and well into the swing of things , enjoying it again. So how about you all think about having a break in say May and give me a chance to win some prizes !!!! ......Thanks xx

Perhaps we could raise some money for charity - a bit like I have sponsored people for Sober October, we could have 'stay away in May'. Mind you, I would need a lot of people to sponsor me and check up that I wasn't cheating! Are there any compers anonymous groups around?

Joking aside, I have taken breaks in the past, sometimes for a number of years.

I took a 6 month break last year - read books , did the garden, went on holiday without thinking of comping.
Returned to comping after Xmas and was quickly hooked again. It only needs a prize or two...
And yes the painful hands have returned.
    Anyone know of a Compers-Anonymous group ;)
  • I pack up from 1st of May to 1st of October to enjoy the summer months outdoors without once doing comps.I find this works 4 me

I often take breaks. I comped Jan/Feb and just took a 6/7 week break and now back into it again. I have never had a long dry spell and seem to win quite a bit throughout the year - so it suits me and gives me a life other than comps!

I'm on a semi-break atm. I don't enter every day. Normally about 3 days a week. It was getting too stressful keeping up with the board and worrying about missing the big one. I'm trying to just let it go and not feel like I have to check or I will miss out on something amazing.
I don't want to be spending the summer months stuck inside on a computer when I live at the seaside and it's a lovely day.
Thank you to everyone who posts on the competitions boards. You all rock!
  • Sometimes I take breaks for months at a time because comping can be exhausting. I think it's because I get too enthralled in it and start obsessing about certain wins that I want and it takes over my life lol. I'm exaggerating of course but comping can be very addictive and the need to want to enter them all can be quite time consuming. So life passes by while I'm glued to my phone entering comps.

I've started to assign certain time periods to comping. Such as only doing it for a few hours in the afternoon and having night time and all weekend free to do what I want. If I see a comp I've missed instead of kicking myself I just tell myself it wasn't meant to be.

I change how I comp from time to time, I've just reverted back to doing those which are about to close and also entering for anything I fancy big or small. For a long time I was just entering for the big prizes but that becomes arduous and boring because you don't win nearly so often and I was starting to flag with the futility lol.

A change is as good as a rest.

I would say as a rule of thumb keep it as a hobby and never get into a state of mind where you feel you 'have' to get 'your' comps done.
    Shhhhhhh...
