Kitchen help wanted from the experts please.

:)We are looking at purchasing a new kitchen and following the advice on here, I've looked at the construction etc rather than the wow factor.

I've now decided that we will buy a supply only kitchen and get a kitchen fitter to fit it, and fit quality worktops and appliances. Part of the reason is that I like my own design better as I know what works for us!!

I've looked at Kitchen collection which seem similar to DIY kitchens, but their wooden doors appear to have veneer panels. Our existing was bought from MFI about 20+ years ago and still looks ago apart from general wear and tear and it looked dated - however the doors are solid oak and I don't really want to buy less quality.

Can anybody point me in the direction of a supplier that will supply solid doors that won't break the bank.

Thank you in advance.

Veneered centre panels are normal unless they are raised and fielded panels. Nothing to worry about.

Aren't they more likely to chip/peel or are they better quality now?

    Thank you.

The vast majority of solid wood doors (no matter where you buy them from) all have veneered centre panels, it's just how they are manufactured. Solid wood doors are not going to peel. Foil wrapped may after 10 years or so but only if the doors are hammered constantly:-)

If there's nothing wrong with your old kitchen and you're still happy with it and can't find anything as good quality, then why don't you keep it and update the worktops and fittings? Painted wood finishes can look great :)

Unfortunately we can't replace the handles because of the existing trims and we would need different range of cupboards. We did think of this.
