New boiler - 2 options

In need of a new boiler and have two quotes. In a real quandary as to what to go for - reputation over price over warranty! Any advice would be appreciated.

Option 1: Intergas Rapid 25. Fully fitted by accredited Intergas fitter with 3 year warranty. £1100. Can buy an additional 4 years warranty for £150. The plumber has patched my old boiler up before and seems sound. He's really pushed the Intergas though which I've never heard of.

Option 2: Worcester Bosch 30i. Fitted by accredited Worcester fitter with 7 year warranty. £1550. All the reviews seem to say Worcester is the best make and friends and family have also recommended. Looks a bit more compact for my tiny kitchen!

Option 1 seems most sensible I guess but I'm a bit worried about the Intergas as reviews are mixed and after care not as good by all accounts. Any ideas?

As an rgi, I would recommend option 1.

I install Intergas whenever possible but, like you, most people have never heard of them. They are a great piece of kit.

The majority of my breakdown work is on Worcesters.

Thank you. Would you recommend paying the extra £150 for the 7 year warranty?

I have a remeha boiler its fantastic and never let us down
  • I'm a great believer in ignoring extended warranties.
The worst possible scenario is that you would need a brand new boiler on day 1 after the 3 years. You will then buy a new boiler for £1100 and get a further 3 years warranty.
Any problem would possibly/likely show in the 1st 3 years.
On the 7th year go out with your partner and blow £150 on a steak and bottle of Chateauneuf de pape.
    That is my choice.
My cousins husband is a plumber.
At the end of the day go with what suits you.

    Thank you for the advice.

Well I've gone for the Intergas and it's getting fitted next week. Hopefully it will be the right choice and will serve me well!

+1 for Intergas you won't regret it, you could have gone for the HRE (7 yrs) or the ECO (10 yrs) if he is a P5 installer

  • For the sake of 150 quid the extended warranty is a no brainer, it covers you for an extra 4 years parts and labour as long as you get it serviced each year by a registered gas fitter.

Don't have any relatives husbands in the trade but I do work directly for Intergas lol!!
