Gourmet Society - Auto Renewal Disgrace

I am yet another customer being treated like dirt by 'Gourmet Society' membership card.
The whole card system is misleading and corrupt.
* They print on your card a Expiry Date yet, take the money out of your account 8 days prior to this date. So even if you did try and cancel they say it's too late
* They have also referred to small print in my welcome letter advising of this. I found my welcome letter and there is no such small print
* They refuse to take me off their marketing email list after many requests to do so
* They advise they'll respond to emails after 5 days. 8 days later I'm still waiting

Why is MSE not kicking up a fuss about this practice? Your forums are full of examples of people getting conned by Gourmet Society.

When you first bought your card you will have agreed to their ts + cs. (You grumble they are poor at admin, but it seems you agreed the ts + cs without understanding what you were doing)


These include that you are joining up on an automatic renewal basis.


And that you need to contact them at least 15 days prior to renewal if you want to cancel

You and Yours on radio 4 is kicking up a fuss, they had a story about it this week. The outcome is that Gourmet Society are changing and will now only take it out when the card expires not 8 days before.
